From guest speakers to masterclasses to mentoring, we’ve got the continuing education and workshops for every stage of your interpreting career.
We offer four streams of professional development programming, all of which you can access as an Annual Member. This includes
- Monthly subject-matter expert speakers
- Quarterly workshops
- Annual master classes
- One-on-one career guidance sessions
Our programs are based on the knowledge and teaching experience of our team of experienced interpreting professionals, educators and community stakeholders.
Plus, all of our education is approved as Professional Development Units/Continuing Education Units (PDUs/CEUs) by a wide range of professional associations and language services providers in Canada, including:
- The Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC)
- Society of Translators and Interpreters of BC (STIBC)
- Provincial Language Services BC (PLS)
- The Ontario Council on Community Interpreting (OCCI)
- And all of the Interpreter Service Providers (ISP) in BC and many in Manitoba, Ontario, and other provinces

Monthly Speakers Series with Experienced Interpreters and Subject Matter Experts
Attend a monthly speaker session to hear from, and network with, industry professionals and experienced interpreting practitioners.
Every month we bring you a unique speaker that is an expert in their field.
Our monthly Speakers Series is designed to support your continuing education with a curated list of topics and speakers who share the latest industry developments, skills and knowledge from the field. Our guest speakers cover everything from business basics such as taxes and accounting to interpreting best practices in a variety of settings.
Most sessions last for one hour, but some may extend to two hours when more than one guest presents or to allow for discussions and member networking.

Workshops and Master Classes
Upgrade and advance your skills with quarterly professional development workshops and annual interpreting master classes.
Our quarterly Workshops and annual Master Classes offer in-depth and interactive opportunities to explore subject matter designed to advance your professional practice – topics such as “simultaneous interpreting” and “working in remote settings”.
Members complete our 2.5-hour workshops with new skills, knowledge and tools they can apply directly to the workplace. Our annual Master Classes are more intensive, and spend 4-6 hours focused on emerging trends.
Plus, for every hour of participation in our Workshops and Master Classes, you will receive one credit toward your professional portfolio.
Career Guidance and Mentorship
Get one-on-one guidance and support in up to four personalized sessions annually.
Members have access to four 30-minute career guidance sessions annually during our office hours. These sessions are personalized to address your specific needs and can include career pathing, exam preparation tutorials and ongoing support from our expert instructors.
This is an opportunity to ask questions or explore options and opportunities, prepare for interviews, get assistance with contract negotiations or understand what to expect on the job.
