Speech language pathologists are professionals trained to evaluate and treat disorders of communication. In order for interpreters to both not disrupt the work of SPL, while accurately transmitting the utterances of the patient can be a very difficult task. Interpreters must not only understand the goals of the session, but also how the SPL works and the techniques they use.
